The Glenlivet – 12 Year Old (70cl)

The Glenlivet 12 Year Old is a Speyside single malt in a 70cl bottle. It is matured first in European oak that held sherry, then in American oak that held bourbon, which adds vanilla notes and a distinctive smoothness. Water from Josie's Well is used for mashing and fermentation, and the height and width of the copper stills are said to give a delicate but complex character. The nose is fresh and fruity, with green apple, pear and a hint of pineapple, alongside soft lemon and grapefruit, light florals, honey and vanilla. The palate is light and balanced, with ripe pear and apple, toffee and a little almond or hazelnut. The finish is medium, clean and fruity, with a touch of oak.
