This is a 15-year-old Speyside single malt from The Glenlivet, in a 70cl bottle. Part of the whisky is aged in new French oak, from Limousin trees felled in the Dordogne. The distillery was among the first to use French oak for whisky, and the time in cask is controlled to give a pleasant peppery spice. Water from Josie's Well is used in mashing and fermentation.
The nose is warm and gentle, with honey and vanilla and a balanced acidity. The palate is enveloping and spicy, with clove and cinnamon, more dry than sweet, and dried fruit. The finish is medium, with a distinctive peppery note.
