The Glenlivet Captain's Reserve is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle and matured in Cognac casks, something surprisingly few distillers attempt with whisky. Raisin-rich character, fine citrus and a creamy smoothness are described as sitting well with the Glenlivet style.
The nose brings honey, apricot jam and sweet cinnamon. On the palate come mandarin compote, ripe pear and plenty of raisin.
