The Glenlivet XXV is a 25 year old Speyside single malt, presented in a wooden box. It spends its 25 years maturing in oak casks and is then finished in Oloroso sherry casks.
The nose is complex, with sultanas, Morello cherry, stewed apple and a pleasing spiciness. On the palate it is full and smooth, the sherry fruitiness rounded out by caramel and nuts.
The finish divides opinion. Some find it long and rich, with plenty of winter spice.
