The Glenrothes Whisky Maker's Cut (70cl, 48.8%)

Whisky Maker's Cut is a Glenrothes single malt from the Soleo Collection, bottled at 48.8% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The range takes its name from the sun-drying of grapes before sherry production, and sherry runs through the whole series. This expression was matured entirely in first-fill sherry seasoned casks, which bring orange, cinnamon and dried fruit. The nose offers orange oil and blackberry jam with drying oak behind. On the palate come juicy sherry, crunchy brown sugar, a touch of boozy red wine and macadamia nuts, and the finish is sweet with chocolate and dried fruit.
