The Glover Batch 5 is a blended malt from Adelphi, joining Scottish Ardnamurchan with Japanese Chichibu. It is dedicated to Thomas Blake Glover, the Scottish samurai who helped shape modern Japan.
The whisky spent four years in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks and is bottled at 54.7% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered. Only 1,008 bottles were released.
The nose offers mandarin peel, fresh pineapple, sweet almonds and nougat, with a faint trace of earthy peat. The palate is oily and fresh, with lemon curd, biscuity malt and barley, leading to a crisp, savoury finish with a thread of gentle smoke.
