The Lakes Distillery – The One Manzanilla Cask Finish (70cl)

The One Manzanilla Cask Finish is a blended whisky from The Lakes Distillery, in a 70cl bottle. It combines The Lakes Single Malt with Scotch grain and malt whiskies from the Highlands, Speyside and Islay, then finishes the blend in Manzanilla casks. Those casks come from Sanlucar de Barrameda in Andalusia, where the cooler coastal climate gives Manzanilla its dry, saline character. The whisky is non-chill filtered and takes its colour only from the oak casks. The distillery suggests a few drops of water, or soda water for a highball. The nose has plum jam, boiled sweets, aromatic woodsmoke and a touch of salinity. The palate brings lightly stewed apples, candied ginger and a hint of lemon zest, and the finish is fresh and balanced.
