Equinox is a limited-edition English single malt from The Lakes Distillery, which stands on the shore of Bassenthwaite Lake in Cumbria. It belongs to The Whiskymaker's Editions series and was released in 2023.
It was created around the turn from summer into autumn, with floral character, orchard fruit and warming spice in mind. The whisky was matured in American and European oak Oloroso sherry casks together with Calvados-seasoned casks, and is bottled at 46.6%, natural in colour and without chill filtration.
The nose is fragrant, with baked apple, fresh apricot, orange blossom, baking spices and sandalwood. The palate is rich and rounded, with orchard fruits, treacle, dried apple and polished oak. The finish is long and warming, with sweet spice.
