The Whiskymaker's Reserve No. 6 is an English single malt from The Lakes Distillery, near Bassenthwaite Lake in Cumbria. Released in 2023, it is the penultimate bottling in the distillery's seven-part Reserve series.
Sherry-led in style, it was principally matured in bespoke Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez and red wine casks made from Spanish and American oak. It is bottled at 52% ABV, non-chill filtered and at natural colour, with exotic spice, floral notes and rich dried fruit to the fore.
The nose opens with exotic spice, marzipan and rose water, then candied ginger and polished oak. The palate has sun-dried Ajwa dates and toasted teacake with gentle warming spice, and the finish is long, with spice and seasoned oak.
