The Whiskymaker's Reserve No. 7 comes from The Lakes Distillery near Bassenthwaite Lake in Cumbria, England. It is the seventh and final release in the Whiskymaker's Reserve series, brought out in September 2023.
It was matured in Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez and red wine casks made from Spanish and American oak, and is bottled at 52% ABV, non-chill filtered and at natural colour. The release completes the distillery's exploration of a sherry-led house style.
The nose brings sandalwood, almond pastries and orchard fruits with gentle baking spice. The palate has honeyed fruits, currants and a little dark chocolate, and the finish is long and creamy, with warming spice and cocoa nib.
