The Macallan 25 Year Sherry Oak is the 2019 annual release from the Speyside distillery established at Easter Elchies in 1824, and part of The Macallan Sherry Oak Collection. It is bottled at 43% with natural colour, in a 75cl bottle.
The whisky spends 25 years exclusively in hand picked, sherry seasoned oak casks from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. The casks are sourced, toasted and seasoned under the eye of The Macallan's Master of Wood.
The nose brings dried fruits, orange peel, ginger and vanilla with rich sherry and toasted oak. On the palate come raisins, figs, dark chocolate, cinnamon and clove, with a whisper of wood smoke. The finish is long and warming, with dried fruit, oak and a touch of spice.
