This is the 2019 annual release of The Macallan 30 Year Old Sherry Oak, a Speyside single malt in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in hand-picked sherry-seasoned oak casks from Jerez, Spain, and is bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof) in natural colour, with no caramel added. It comes in a blonde wood presentation box.
The nose has Christmas cake, dark bitter orange, dried fig, raisin, cinnamon and antique leather, with Oloroso sherry sweetness. The palate brings dark chocolate orange, stewed plum, toffee, stem ginger and toasted almonds, with resinous oak spice. The finish is very long, with dried fruit, polished leather, bitter chocolate and a lingering sherry sweetness.
