The Macallan Double Cask 18 Year Old is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. This is the 2020 release.
It was matured for 18 years in sherry-seasoned oak casks of both American and European origin. The European oak brings rich spice and dried fruit, while the American oak adds sweeter vanilla and honeyed notes. The colour is a deep amber honey.
The nose offers dried fruits, sultanas, vanilla, sweet oak and warming spice. On the palate come treacle toffee, caramel, sweet ginger, raisins, nutmeg and citrus zest. The finish is long and warming, with dried fruit, sweet spice, oak and gentle citrus.
