The Macallan Gran Reserva 18 Year Old is a Speyside single malt distilled in 1979 and bottled in 1997 at 40% ABV, in a 750ml bottle.
It belongs to the Gran Reserva series, which was matured in sherry wood from casks chosen by the distillery's management from its own private reserve.
The nose is described as Christmas cake, dark dried fruit, antique leather, toffee, cinnamon and orange peel. The palate is full and sherried, with figs, dark plum, chocolate orange, treacle and toasted oak, and the finish is long and warming with dried fruit, polished leather and bitter chocolate.
