The Macallan – Rare Cask Black (70cl, 48%)

The Macallan Rare Cask Black is a limited single malt from the Rare Cask series, in a 70cl bottle at 48%. It was filled from 100 casks, and only the master distiller could decide when bottling would begin. Unusually for the distillery, it shows smoky, peaty aromas, and its colour and flavour come from maturation in natural wood. The nose brings dried fruit, ginger, nutmeg and oak. The palate is fruity, sweet and smoky at once, and the finish is long with fine notes of smoke.
