This is a 40 year old single malt from Glen Ord, the oldest Glen Ord bottled to date. It was distilled in 1982 and matured for 12 years before being filled into Caribbean rum casks for a further 28 years. Only 1,716 bottles were produced, each a 70cl bottle.
The nose is mellow, with dried apple, sage, plums in dark chocolate, sweetly spicy oak and hard toffee. The palate is smooth and lightly waxy, with pears in dark chocolate, caramelised tropical fruit and slow-building black pepper. The finish is quite long and lightly drying, with black pepper and a hint of waxy smoke.
