The Speyside Distillery – 28 Year Old x Codo Release 20 (70cl, 45%)

This is a 28 year old single malt from The Speyside Distillery, matured in a refill hogshead and bottled at 45% in a 70cl bottle. Only 263 bottles were filled. The whisky spent its whole life maturing at the distillery, in a cask kept so deep in the warehouse that getting it out took nearly a year. Release 20 carries artwork by Codo. The nose is tropical, with mango, guava, passionfruit, pink grapefruit, sweet oak and stewed rhubarb. The palate adds honey and a little mint to the mango, passionfruit and grapefruit. The finish is medium, with passionfruit, honey and citrus.
