Timorous Beastie is a Highland blended malt from Douglas Laing, made from a small batch of Highland single malts that includes Glen Garioch, Dalmore and Glengoyne. The name comes from the timid field mouse in Robert Burns's poem To a Mouse. It joined the Remarkable Regional Malts series in 2014 as its Highland bottling, and is bottled at 46.8% without chill-filtration or added colour.
Honey, malted barley, vanilla, citrus and meringue run through it. The nose opens sweet with floral and light barley notes, the palate brings raisin and fudge-like sweetness, and the finish is gentle and sweet, with clear oak and a final touch of meringue.
Tasting Notes
Sweet at first, then floral notes, light barley and spiced honey
Spicy start, fruity raisin, sugary fudge-like sweetness
Gentle and sweet, clear oak, a hint of cereal with milk, meringue at the end
