Tomintoul – 12 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish

This is Tomintoul 12 Year Old, a single malt finished in Oloroso sherry casks, and the second batch of this bottling. The whisky was distilled in 2010 and first matured in ex-bourbon American oak casks. The spirit was then married and given a finishing period in Oloroso sherry butts from Andalucía, Spain. The nose offers treacle toffee, toasted pecans, sweet raisins and a little smoke. On the palate come mocha, Brazil nut toffee, fruit cake, candied peel and brandy butter, followed by a long, silky finish of chocolate eclair, creme caramel and clove.
