Tomintoul – 15 Year Old 2006 Port Cask Finish (70cl, 46%)

This Tomintoul single malt was distilled in 2006 and bottled after 15 years. It matured in former bourbon casks of American oak and was then finished in port pipes from Portugal, which add cherry and sultana character along with chocolate and spice. It is a limited edition of 9,762 bottles, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle without chill-filtration or added colour. The nose brings together dark chocolate, sultanas and mocha, moving into clove and cinnamon. On the palate, maraschino cherries and stewed fruit meet tonka bean and chocolate shavings, with cedar wood adding spice. The finish is sweet and rich, with cherry liqueur chocolates, rhubarb crumble, ginger biscuits and baking spices.
