Tomintoul 16 Year Old is a Speyside single malt made from a selection of American oak ex-bourbon casks, and one that Master Distiller Robert Fleming holds in particular regard.
The nose is creamy and sweet, with heather honey, soft nougat, vanilla fudge and toasted brioche, lifted by lemon zest. The palate is nutty and well rounded, with creme brulee, boiled sweets, mocha and amoretti biscuit. The finish is mellow and warming, with shortbread, cinnamon icing and brittle toffee.
