This is a single malt from Tomintoul, drawn from a single American oak bourbon cask, number 6077, and bottled at 40.3% in a 70cl bottle.
The cask was laid down in October 1966 under Islay Shaw, the distillery's first manager. It yielded 79 bottles, each hand-filled into an individually numbered crystal decanter.
The nose brings stone fruits, almond, Danish pastry, melon and kumquat with cream, pear compote and sweet spice. Cooked peach and apricot jam lead the palate, with fennel seed, muscovado sugar, coffee cake and cedar. The finish is warming, with ginger biscuit, maple pecan pie, dates and mocha.
