This is a 45 year old Tomintoul single malt, distilled in April 1973 and bottled in September 2018 at 44.5% in a 70cl bottle. The outturn was 240 bottles.
It was first matured in a bourbon barrel, then moved to an Oloroso sherry hogshead for the rest of its maturation.
The nose is clean sherry over a sweet malty layer, with intense waxy aromas, orange citrus and Christmas pudding. The palate is mouth-filling, with nuts, chocolate, mocha coffee bean and spicy oak tannins. The finish is dry and spicy.
