Tomintoul – 2009/2023 14 Year Old Cognac Cask Finish (70cl, 46%)

This is a 14 year old Speyside single malt from Tomintoul, distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2023. It matured in ex-bourbon casks of American oak, then received a finish in Cognac casks that master distiller Robert Fleming selected in France. The edition runs to 8,082 individually numbered bottles, each at 46%, non-chill-filtered and without added colour, and comes in a tube. The nose combines sweet almond pudding and baked apricots with vanilla, cedar, dark chocolate and pink pepper. On the palate are ginger biscuits, sandalwood, muscovado sugar and white chocolate, with dark berries, greengage and baking spices. The finish carries warming spice and toasted oak into vanilla cream, milk chocolate and roasted chestnuts.
