Tomintoul – Old Ballantruan 10 Years Peated (50%)

Old Ballantruan 10 Years Peated is a Speyside single malt from the Tomintoul distillery, one of the few peated malts made in the region. It matured for ten years in carefully selected casks and was bottled at 50% ABV without chill-filtration. The name comes from the Ballantruan Spring in the Cromdale Hills, the highest-lying place in Scotland, near Tomintoul. The colour is warm gold. The nose is balanced and warming, with smoke and subtle floral notes. On the palate come gentle peat, citrus and malt, and the finish carries lingering smoke and peat with a touch of sweet barley.
