Tullamore D.E.W. Original is a triple-distilled Irish blended whiskey, bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It brings together pot still, malt and grain whiskey, matured in ex-bourbon barrels, ex-sherry casks and seasoned refill wood before the casks are married.
The distillery stands in Tullamore, County Offaly, and is run by William Grant & Sons. The brand's initials honour Daniel E. Williams, who rose from stable boy to managing director of the original distillery.
The nose is sweet citrus and green apple with toffee and honeyed malt. On the palate come lemon candy, red apple and honey-dipped almonds. The finish is medium, clean and lightly grainy, with a hint of green chilli.
