Tullamore Dew 18 Year Old is a triple-distilled Irish single malt, made from 100% malted barley and bottled at 41.3% in a 750ml bottle.
Most of the eighteen years are spent in ex-bourbon barrels. The whiskey then spends at least six months in each of three further casks in turn: ex-Oloroso sherry butts, ex-port pipes and ex-Madeira drums.
The nose is rich with malt, toasted oak, baked apple and tobacco leaf. On the palate come tropical fruit, vanilla and cinnamon, with dark-fruit sweetness and gentle oak tannins. The finish is long and warming, with malty sweetness and a hint of sherry.
