Tullibardine – The Murray 2008 Bourbon Barrel

Tullibardine The Murray is a Highland single malt from the distillery's Marquess Collection, which celebrates the life of Sir William Murray, 2nd Marquess of Tullibardine. This cask strength edition was matured entirely in a first-fill bourbon barrel, unlike other releases in the collection that were aged mainly in wine casks such as Marsala or Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The nose opens with vanilla, yellow apples, banana sweets, candyfloss, a little honey, coconut and lemon sponge. On the palate, creamy vanilla meets banana sweets and yellow apples, then candied lemon, perhaps pink grapefruit, mint, caramel toffee, cinnamon and a pinch of white pepper. The finish is medium, with white pepper, vanilla and candied lemon.
