Turntable Track 8 'Black Betty' is a lightly peated Scottish blended whisky from Turntable Spirits, an independent blending house. It is bottled at cask strength, 52.5%, with no added colouring and no chill-filtration.
The blend combines five whiskies: Caol Ila (peated) from virgin oak, Glenlossie from hogshead, Balmenach from a first-fill rye barrel, Glen Moray from a second-fill bourbon barrel and Loch Lomond from a first-fill bourbon barrel. After two years of maturation, it spent a further 20 months or more in hogsheads that once held Ruby Port.
The nose offers ripe strawberries, dark berries, caramel and toasted marshmallow. The palate brings citrus, spicy ginger, fruity jam and a hint of cigar, and the finish is a gentle coastal smokiness with toasted nuts.
