Velvet Cap is a five-year-old Irish single malt from Blackwater Distillery, matured for its full five years exclusively in Bordeaux red wine casks.
The casks give it a reddish-gold colour and an aroma of freshly baked redcurrant madeleines. It won Gold at the Spirit Masters in 2022.
On the nose there are red berries, a touch of brown sugar, vanilla and cinnamon. The palate brings gingerbread, milky coffee, dried fruit and orange peel. The finish is dark chocolate, biscuits and raspberry.
