Velvet Cap Peated Irish Single Malt Sherry Cask Finish

Velvet Cap is a peated Irish single malt from Blackwater Distillery, finished in Spanish sherry casks. The distillery is a small producer in West Waterford, on the banks of the River Blackwater. Peated malt and sherry casks are the two ideas behind it, giving a whiskey that is smoky, rich and sweet. It won gold at the Irish Whiskey Masters in 2022. On the nose there is earthy smoke, green apples, butter toffee and cinnamon. The palate brings sponge-cake malt, ashy toffee, vanilla, flamed citrus and sweet pears, and the finish is smoky and sweet.
