W.L. Weller 12 Year Old is a Kentucky straight wheated bourbon aged for a minimum of 12 years at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. It is bottled at 45% (90 proof) in a 1 litre bottle.
The recipe is corn, wheat and malted barley with no rye, following the wheated style pioneered in the 19th century by William Larue Weller. The whisky matures in new charred American oak. It won a Double Gold Medal at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The nose is creamy vanilla, caramel and molasses with lanolin, almond, creamed corn and toasty oak. The palate is layered and moderately sweet, with candied corn, ripe fruit, cocoa powder and dried fruits. The finish is long and oaky, with hints of mint, fruit and vanilla.
