W. L. Weller 12 Year Old is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at 45% ABV. It is produced at the Buffalo Trace distillery, the same site that makes Pappy Van Winkle.
At twelve years, it is aged for far longer than most wheated bourbons. The name goes back to W. L. Weller & Sons, where Julian Van Winkle Sr. once worked as a salesman before Stitzel-Weller opened in 1935.
It has a deep bronze colour and is generally described as smooth, easy-going and balanced.
