Weller C.Y.P.B., short for Craft Your Perfect Bourbon, is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, bottled at 95 proof (47.5% ABV) in a 750ml bottle. It began in 2015, when more than 100,000 drinkers voted online on mashbill, ageing location, proof and flavour. The winning recipe was a wheated bourbon aged for around eight years on the top floors of the rickhouse. It was first released in 2018 and now appears each May.
The nose is fruity, with red, orchard and stone fruit, light fresh corn, butterscotch and cedary oak. The palate is warm and buttery, with caramelised red fruit, dark berry, baking spices, spearmint, vanilla and toasted oak. The finish is long, with citrus oil, stone fruit, blackberry and chocolate.
