W.L. Weller Single Barrel is a Kentucky straight bourbon distilled and bottled at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort. Its mash bill uses wheat in place of rye, following the recipe William Larue Weller pioneered. It is bottled at 97 proof (48.5%) in a 750ml bottle.
Each bottling is handpicked and drawn from one barrel, matured in new charred American oak, so character varies from barrel to barrel while the strength stays the same.
The nose opens with cherry and mint before fading to vanilla. The palate is full bodied and rounded, with caramel, baking spices and hints of cocoa. The finish brings cinnamon, coffee and a little pepper.
