W.L. Weller Special Reserve is a Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey in a 75cl bottle, bottled at 45% ABV, or 90 proof. It is a wheated bourbon, with wheat used in place of rye, and it has a burnt orange colour. It won a Gold Medal at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and a Silver Medal at the 2019 World Whiskies Awards.
The nose brings apple, caramel, honey and a touch of vanilla, with light oak and an overall sweetness. On the palate the wheat gives sweetness, with vanilla and caramel growing stronger. The finish starts sweet, then turns to a brief bite of oak and some warmth.
