W.L. Weller Special Reserve is a Kentucky straight bourbon made with wheat in place of rye, bottled at 45% abv (90 proof) in a 750ml bottle. This is an earlier label presentation. It is produced at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort and matured in new charred oak, for around seven years.
The colour is a burnt orange. The nose is sweet, with caramel, honey and vanilla. The palate is soft and delicate, with honey, butterscotch, vanilla, light fruit and a touch of oak, and the finish is smooth and calm with a sweet honeysuckle note.
