Waterproof Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (75cl, 45.8%)

This is a batch release blended malt, bottled by MacDuff International of Glasgow at 45.8% ABV (91.6 proof) in a 75cl bottle. It is a vatting of single malts from a handful of Scottish distilleries, with no grain whisky, aged in first- and second-fill bourbon and sherry casks. Sherry is the dominant influence. The name combines Scotland's rain with the old term for spirit strength. The look is inspired by Charles Macintosh, inventor of the waterproof raincoat. The nose has grain character, red fruit, cocoa and light fruitcake with cherries and sultanas. The palate balances char bitterness with sweet cherry and sticky raisin. The finish brings brown sugar, cinnamon heat and lingering malt loaf.
