Boss Hog XIII The Golden Pharaoh is the thirteenth annual Boss Hog release from WhistlePig, a straight rye whiskey from Shoreham, Vermont. The rye is aged in new American oak, then finished in barrels seasoned with Egyptian black honey and tiger nut.
Every bottle in the series comes from a single barrel and is bottled at that barrel's own strength, with no blending or dilution. This one is from barrel 6005 and is bottled at 104.5 proof, 52.2% ABV.
The nose is brown sugar, cinnamon and toasted almond over dark honey, toasted oak, vanilla and leather. The palate is full bodied, with molasses, light honey, bold rye spice, dark caramel, baking spice and black pepper. The finish is long and soft, closing on toasted almond and brown sugar oatmeal.
