The fifth edition of WhistlePig's Double Double, an 18 year old straight rye made from 91% rye and 9% malted barley. It was aged for the full 18 years in new American oak, then finished in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks.
It is bottled at 46% (92 proof) in a 750ml custom crystal decanter, topped with a glass stopper handmade in Vermont.
The nose combines dried fruit, caramel, toasted almond and a little smoked maple. On the palate, rye spice meets dark chocolate, plum, raisin and toffee. The finish is long, with dried fruit, cocoa, baking spice and a soft honey note.
