Widow Jane – Lucky Thirteen 13 Year Old Single Barrel Straight Bourbon (70cl, 49.5%)

Widow Jane Lucky Thirteen is a single barrel straight bourbon aged for a minimum of thirteen years. It is bottled at 49.5% abv (99 proof) in a 70cl bottle, non-chill filtered and proofed with limestone mineral water from the Rosendale Mines of New York. The barrels matured in a rick house in Red Hook, Brooklyn, where changing temperature and humidity and the different positions within the rick house lead to subtle differences in flavour from one barrel to the next. Each bottling is drawn from little more than a handful of barrels. The nose brings vanilla bean, Earl Grey tea, caramel and sweet tobacco. On the palate are pecan pie, wholegrain toast and grapefruit peel, followed by a finish of nutmeg, birch beer and dry oak tannin.
