Wolfburn – No. 318 (2021)

Wolfburn No. 318 is a 2021 small batch release of 4,800 bottles, a Highland single malt matured in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks and bourbon barrels. The two cask types are brought together, setting sherry sweetness beside the spicier freshness of the bourbon wood. The whisky is described as warm, chocolatey and elegant, with the light Wolfburn character kept intact. The nose offers dark fruit, milk chocolate, spices and orange peel. The palate is creamy, with raisins, caramel, spicy bourbon notes and soft oak. The finish is long and warm, with sherry sweetness and a hint of chocolate.
