Wolfburn – No. 318

Wolfburn No. 318 is a single malt from Scotland that combines lightly peated and unpeated whisky. It is the sixth official small batch release, filled into 4,800 bottles. The lightly peated part spent seven years in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts, and the unpeated part seven years in first-fill bourbon barrels. The nose shows figs and apricots with soft peat smoke, vanilla and oak. On the palate, porridge with honey meets stewed apples and raisins, with a gently spicy peat and oak spices of cinnamon, cloves and ginger. The finish brings dried fruit and caramel, with a faint, lingering trace of peat smoke.
