Woodford Reserve – Double Oaked Rye (75cl, 45.2%)

Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Rye is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey bottled at 45.2% (90.4 proof) in a 750ml bottle. It applies the distillery's double-barrel finishing, known from its Double Oaked Bourbon, to rye. After its first maturation, the whiskey is finished in a second new oak barrel that is heavily toasted and lightly charred. The extra barrel, not a higher strength, is what sets it apart from the standard Woodford Rye. It was selected by Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall. The nose has seasoned leather, cedar, dark fruit, toasted nuts, chocolate and sweet oak. The palate brings baking spice, roasted coffee, dark fruit and rye spice. The finish is long, with dark caramel, molasses and toasted oak.
