Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Malt Whiskey is made from 51% malt and aged in new charred oak barrels. It is bottled at 45.2% ABV in a 750ml bottle, and is aimed at bourbon drinkers who want a malt whiskey.
The nuttiness of the grain and the toasted oak of the barrel are to the fore, giving a more buttery style than the distillery's bourbon. The nose has soft nuts, light caramel, milk chocolate, fruit and brown spice. On the palate come dark chocolate, caramel-coated nuts, cocoa, toasted coconut and oak, followed by a nutty, subtly sweet chocolate malt finish.
