1770 Glasgow Single Malt is the 2019 release from the Glasgow Distillery, in a 50cl bottle at 46% ABV and non-chill filtered. The distillery was re-established in 2012, and this follows the first 1770 release of 2018.
It is made in copper pot stills named Tara and Mhairi, using Scottish barley and water from Loch Katrine. Maturation was in first-fill ex-bourbon casks, with a finish in virgin oak.
The nose offers dried dark fruit, vanilla, toffee and peach, then flowers, biscuit, dark chocolate and pepper. The palate has creme brulee, pear, blackberry, almond and honey, and the finish brings orange marmalade, nutmeg, cinnamon and peppery oak.
