1792 Small Batch (175cl, 46.9%)

1792 Small Batch is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown, bottled at 46.85% ABV (93.7 proof) in a 1.75 litre bottle. The mashbill is high in rye, at 75% corn, 15% rye and 10% malted barley. The bourbon is aged for no less than eight years in the distillery's Warehouse Z, and each batch is made in smaller volumes. It won a Double Gold Medal at the 2011 San Francisco Wine and Spirits Competition. The nose shows vanilla, butterscotch, toasted oak and baking spice. The palate opens with caramel and vanilla before rye spice arrives, with stone fruit and a leathery note. The finish is long and warming, with oak tannins, dark sugar and cinnamon.
