A. H. Hirsch Finest Reserve is a 20 year old straight bourbon from a batch Adolf Hirsch commissioned in 1974. It was distilled in the spring of that year in small copper pot stills at the Pennco Distillery in Schaefferstown, Pennsylvania, later renamed Michter's.
It was filled into new charred American oak and bottled between late 1994 and early 1995 at 45.8% ABV, in a 75cl bottle.
The nose is creamy vanilla and caramel with oak spice and a pot still grain character. The palate is smooth and layered, with toffee and vanilla. The finish is dry and oaky, with smoke, baking spices and a touch of black pepper.
