Aalborg Taffel is a clear, unaged Danish akvavit at 45% vol, in a 75cl bottle. Its name means 'table', and it is made to be served ice-cold with herring, smoked fish and rich food. The recipe dates from 1846.
Caraway leads, with a hint of orange and supporting notes of anise, fennel and citrus. The nose is bright and intense with light orange peel. The palate is clean and dry, with bold caraway, lemon zest, coriander and mild black pepper, smooth and velvety. The finish is medium and warming, with lingering caraway, spice and citrus zest.
