Aberargie – Golden Promise Barley Expression (70cl, 48.2%)

A Lowland single malt from Aberargie, distilled from 100% Golden Promise barley, a variety that distillers have favoured for decades. It is bottled at 48.2% in a 70cl bottle. The spirit was matured in 68% first-fill bourbon casks and 32% first-fill sherry butts, a mix intended to support the full-bodied character of the barley rather than overshadow it. Tasting notes run to buttery pastry, baked apples and pears, vanilla, honey and gentle baking spice, with the sherry casks adding subtle dried fruit and depth.
